In May 2023, Beards & Daisies brought their expertise and passion for indoor plants to the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show in 2023, debuting a unique and educational concept called Plant School. This exhibit aimed to inspire and educate visitors about the art and science of plant care, reflecting the brand’s commitment to sustainability and plant knowledge.
Design Objectives:
- Educational Impact: Craft a creative, interactive space to educate visitors on the basics of plant care, encouraging sustainable plant ownership.
- Memorable Design: Incorporate vintage props and desk space mock-ups to evoke a school-like atmosphere, appealing to both nostalgia and curiosity.
- Engaging Experience: Create an inviting setting that allowed visitors to immerse themselves in learning, sparking a love for greenery.
The Journey to Chelsea Flower Show:
The concept for Plant School was born from a collaborative brainstorming session in Autumn 2022, where the Beards & Daisies team explored different ideas before landing on the idea of a plant-focused school. Following months of planning and preparations, the team developed an immersive space, sharing their journey on Instagram with behind-the-scenes glimpses of the creative process, from design mock-ups to sourcing vintage props.
Results:
- Award Recognition: The exhibit earned a prestigious Silver-Gilt medal, celebrating the quality, innovation, and educational value of the design.
- Visitor Engagement: Plant School captivated audiences with its unique school theme, offering both seasoned plant enthusiasts and new learners valuable insights into plant care.
